Fishing Report for August 18, 2008

 

Ft. Gibson:  August 12. Elevation 2 ft. above normal, water 88 and murky. Largemouth bass good on jerk baits and salt crawls early and late. White bass good trolling bridges, rocky points and mud flats. Catfish good on worms and cut baits in running water. Report submitted by Marvin Stanley, game warden stationed in Wagoner County.

 

Greenleaf: August 12. Elevation normal, water clear. Largemouth bass good on crankbaits, spinnerbaits and plastic worms in grass along shoreline and at topwater in the mornings. Blue and flathead catfish good on cut baits and stinkbaits on bottom. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs at the fishing dock. Report submitted by Lark Wilson, game warden stationed in Muskogee County.

 

Lower Illinois: August 11. Elevation normal, water 58 and clear. Largemouth bass good on topwater spinnerbaits at 2-8 ft. in moss beds and rocky points. Striped bass excellent on shad and live trout at 2-10 ft. all along river during water generation. Channel catfish excellent on live and cut shad in deep holes all along river. Walleye good on minnows and jigs on bottom at the mouth of the river. Saugeye good on minnows on bottom at the mouth of the river and all along river. Trout excellent on flies, spinnerbaits and power baits at 2-5 ft. all along river. Remember to check generation times. Report submitted by D. Tracy, Town of Gore.

 

Tenkiller: Aug. 11. Elevation 1 1/2 ft. above normal, water 87. Catfish good on stinkbaits at 17-21 ft. and drifting cut baits at 10-17 ft. Sunfish good in or near docks on worm-tipped jigs.  Report by Monte Brooks Cookson Village Resort For more information about  Lake Tenkiller.

 

Webbers Falls: August 12. Elevation 3 ft. above normal, water murky. Largemouth bass fair on crankbaits and spinnerbaits in creek channels. Channel and blue catfish good on cut baits and stinkbaits at mud flats. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs at bridges and brush structure. Report submitted by Lark Wilson, game warden stationed in Muskogee County.

 

Eufaula: August 12. Elevation normal, water clear. Largemouth bass fair on plastics and Carolina-rigs around deep points. White bass fair on minnows at bridge piers at night. Blue catfish fair on fresh shad drifting the deep flats. Crappie fair on minnows and jigs at bridge piers and brush piles during the day. Report submitted by Ed Rodebush, game warden stationed in McIntosh County.

 

Robert S. Kerr: Aug. 11. Elevation normal, water 86 and murky. Largemouth bass slow at 5-8 ft. using crankbaits and plastic baits fishing the rock jetties and the weed and woody structure next to deeper water. Crappie fair at 8-10 ft. using minnows fishing woody structure in the old creek channels. White bass fair at 8 ft. trolling crankbaits in the lower end of the lake. Blue catfish good at 10-20 ft. drift fishing fresh cut bait and live bait from Webbers Falls dam to the Tamaha area. Report submitted by Rick Olzawski, game warden stationed in Haskell County.
